Reported Large drain on pavement at the small gate at Inglewood is blocked

Drain blocked

Details & 1 update

This has been blocked for several years. It takes surface water from the sloping pavement. During rainfall the water now floods the front garden. Generally road drains in Church Street need clearing of silt. Please help here.

Update Shifnal Library is run locally by the Town Council

Shifnal Library (Broadway) is part of the Shropshire library service, but day to day it is run by Shifnal Town Council — see the Town Council's own library page. We've updated the directory entry to point at the specific Shifnal Library page and clarified who to contact.

Reported Street light flashes off to full bright every second throughout the night.

Street Light Flash/Flickering

Details & 1 update

When streetlight (by Shifnal library - col 16 I think) activates at night it proceeds to flash every second from off to full brightness. This is deeply irritating as it continues all night. This has occurred for around the last week.

  • Status changed to: Action scheduled

We have ordered works to remedy the issue. If further works are needed, the issue is likely to take longer to resolve. We are unable to give you a timescale to completion. We will update you when action has taken place. Update Street & highways problems are reported through Shropshire's FixMyStreet portal

Shropshire Council takes street and highways reports — potholes, streetlights, road drainage, signs, grass verges, fly-tipping, dog fouling and graffiti — through its FixMyStreet portal at improvingyourroads.shropshire.gov.uk. You drop a pin on the map, add a photo and a short description, and get a reference you can track.

Update Shropshire Council is moving to a new website (next.shropshire.gov.uk)

Shropshire Council is migrating its website from shropshire.gov.uk to next.shropshire.gov.uk. Some information and report links are moving as part of that, so a few council links may redirect while it rolls out. If a link has moved, start from the council's main site — and let us know so we can update the entry.

Reported Pavement issue outside Minhs of Shifnal on Bradford Street, Shifnal

Footway surface problem

Details & 1 update

Utility works have been completed in this area and instead of replacing the new block paving like for like, the area has been infilled with tarmac. We were advised this was a temporary fix. This area is part of the redesigned Shifnal Town Centre realm.

  • Our response to a pothole report will depend upon several factors. These include the severity of the defect, how busy the road is and its proximity to other defects or hazards. We have very limited resources and budget. At times of high demand- such as emergency storm situations- we may take longer to respond than we would prefer. We are also mindful of other works planned for the road. This includes external contractors or utilities and our long term road renewal program. Temporary repairs may be applied on very busy roads where special traffic management or further investigation may be needed or in an emergency situation. Repairs may be completed in stages, not all at once. The road will continue to be regularly inspected as per our policy. If the pothole becomes an imminent danger, please call our customer call centre on 0345 678 9006, giving your report reference number, and the situation can be reassessed. To read more about what constitutes a safety defect and how we are managing pothole repairs, please see our website here: https://next.shropshire.gov.uk/ roads-and-highways/
